Q - How long will delivery take?
A - I usually get items to the post office within 3 days, however I do not usually post Friday and Saturday to avoid plants being hung up in the post, in my experience customers prefer this, orders placed on Thursday for example will usually be posted on the following Monday, once posted items can be delivered the next day but could take another day or two depending on the postal service.
Q - How will items be packaged and sent?
A - Plants not sent potted will be removed from the pot and roots cleaned and any damaged foliage removed, roots are wrapped in tissue, hydrated, cling filmed then placed into heat sealed bags and finally placed into custom made boxes, seed and books are often posted in padded envelopes, books and other sundries may be sent seperately to plants at my discretion with no additional fees.
Q - What postal service will you use?
A - I always use 1st class Royal Mail standard or tracked 24 at the point of writing this, I will be considering other services in time.
Q - I placed an order 5 days ago and nothing has arrived yet?
A - Always feel free to contact me if you have any concerns, but also take into consideration the time of the week the order was placed and expect a big impact on time around Bank Holidays, occasionally parcels do go missing or a label, stamp detaches holding up parcels in the system but all problems are rectified.
Q - some items are missing, was there an error?
A - In some cases it may be more practical to send some items seperately depending on the contents or it is more viable to send a large order split, this will be done at no additional cost to yourself but if something is missing that you think should be in the order then as always just message and I’ll look into it.
Q - Is the Carnivorian Nursery open to the public?
A - I run a private nursery that is unfortunately not open to the public.
Q - Are insect eating plants good for getting rid of flies or pest insects?
A - Although they can be very efficient fly catchers for their own means they are not so good at clearing flies or gnats, the fact is they could even attract more insects.
Q - My carnivorous plant is flowering, should I cut this off?
A - For Sarracenia, Darlingtonia and Pinguicula it is fine, for Drosera you might want to think about it as they can germinate everywhere, for Dionaea though you need to decide if the plant is strong enough to support the energy sapping process, not recommended for smaller less established plants.

Q - My fly trap or traps have closed, how long does it take them to open again?
A - If they have been triggered accidentally (or on purpose) they usually open back up in 24 hours, if they have trapped an insect it may be around a week but very large prey might see the trap being used up or it will sometimes rot away.
Q - Is it ok to fertilise my plants?
A - Although experienced growers get great results with careful dosages of specific fertilisers I will say do lots of research first and “at your own risk”
Q - How long do carnivorous plants live?
A - Apart from just a few annuals the majority can live indefinitely.
